Anduze in South of France - gateway between Provence and the Cévennes
Since the River Gardon, beginning in the mountains of the Cevennes National Park, is largely unregulated, it makes for an excellent swimming trip for the whole family. However, at high tide or after heavy rains it is recommended that only experienced swimmers venture into the water because it could be difficult or even dangerous at those times.

However, there are also many sites, quite suitable for young children for splashing and swimming. Depending on where you want to go for a swim you can expect either a primeval floodplain or a magnificent canyon of karst.
With any luck, the swimmers can even observe herons or griffon vultures, which have their nesting grounds on the banks of the Gardon. Of course, vacationers can combine a swimming holiday on the Gardon with a sightseeing tour of the region.

At Anduze, the Gardon is called, "Gardon d'Anduze”. Slightly above that the rivers "Le Gardon de Saint-Jean-du-Gard", the "Le Gardon de Mialet” as well ae the "la Salindrenque" are all coming together from Lasalle. In either of those particular rivers, you can find beautiful places where you wade across, however, in some basins you can swim as well. The pictures shown here are located at the intersection of Le Gardon de Saint-Jean-du-Gard and Le Gardon de Mialet at the railway viaduct.

The Gardon then continues down to the Pont du Gard where it several kilometres further joins the Rhone.
Directly on the Gardon, you can experience the Pont du Gard and the Saint-Nicolas-de-Campagnac Bridge. This is an arched bridge in the middle reaches of the river, built in the mid-13th century.
You can easily combine your day our swimming with physical activities at the Gardon. The entire length of 70km you can also cover in a canoe. Particularly fascinating is the gorge between the villages of Russan and Pont-du-Gard.
